On 8th of December 2024, the “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life” – Yunnan Cultural & Tourism Life Festival was successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the event aimed to promote deeper cultural and tourism exchanges between Yunnan and Thailand by delivering Yunnan’s unique cultural appeal, tourism resources, and culinary specialties. The event attracted a large number of local Thai residents, international visitors, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Through carefully curated exhibitions and interactive activities, Yunnan’s rich cultural and tourism offerings were presented in full, successfully capturing the interest of the Thai public and raising awareness about Yunnan.
In recent years, cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Thailand have strengthened, with the implementation of the China-Thailand mutual visa exemption policy. Tourism between two countries has entered a new phase of growth. As a key gateway in southwestern China, Yunnan’s proximity to Southeast Asia making it the first choice for Thai tourists to visit China. To further promotions on tourism cooperation between Yunnan and Thailand, Yunnan’s provincial government has intensified its cultural and tourism exchanges with Thailand. Organizing a range of promotional activities to attract more Thai tourists and foster deeper bilateral tourism cooperation.
One of the main highlights of the Yunnan Cultural & Tourism Life Festival was the showcase of Yunnan’s specialty products. The event featured a variety of authentic Yunnan delicacies, including Yunnan flower cakes, premium tea, high-quality coffee beans and rose-buttered tea, which drew a long tempting eager on international visitors. Many visitors expressed that this culinary experience is the primary key attraction of exploring Yunnan’s diverse food culture. Meanwhile, the exhibition of Yunnan’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Handicrafts meets enthusiastic responses. The display featured exquisite handmade jewelry, batik, embroidery and traditional art-works created by Yunnan’s diverse ethnic groups. These works not only representing Yunnan’s rich ethnic heritage, but also highlighted the exceptional craftsmanship of local artisans. The Nature Photography Exhibition was another key attraction, offering visitors the chance to explore Yunnan’s rich ecological diversity and distinctive natural landscapes through beautiful photography.
Another exciting feature of the event was the “Yunnan Knowledge Quiz”. To boost interactivity, the organizers introduced this segment to encourage participants to learn more about Yunnan’s tourism culture Throughout the event, many Thai locals and international tourists actively engaged with the quiz, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. This interactive experience helped spread awareness of Yunnan’s history, culture and tourism resources. Furthermore, enhancing the province’s reputation in Thailand and deepening Thai people’s appreciation and understanding of Yunnan.
The “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life” – Yunnan Cultural & Tourism Life Festival was not only a successful cultural tourism promotion, also provided an important platform for fostering cultural exchange between Yunnan and Thailand.
