MGA Pushes Back Against False Licensing Claims

(AsiaGameHub) –   The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has once again had to publicly disassociate itself from an online casino platform that claims to hold a license issued by the regulatory body.

Two websites – dragonia-casino.at/ and dragonia-de.de/ – both assert they possess a valid MGA license. The iGaming Expert team was unable to load the former URL, while the latter directs visitors to an online casino platform that states it is operated by NovaForge Ltd and licensed by Anjouan.

As of the time this report was drafted, the fine print in the footer of the website also claims that it is ‘licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority’.

Neither Dragonia nor NovaForge are listed as licensed entities on the Anjouan Gaming official website, and neither name appears on the MGA’s public license register.

An official statement from the regulator read: “Any reference to the MGA and/or gaming licenses purported to be issued by the Maltese Authority, as claimed by the aforementioned websites, is false and misleading.

“The MGA wishes to remind consumers not to use services offered by any entity unless they have verified that the operator in question is formally authorised to provide such services by the MGA.”

False claims continue to hound the MGA

Unauthorized use of the MGA name and logo has been an ongoing issue for several years, with the first official notice released by the MGA addressing this type of problem dating back to 2006.

In February, the MGA issued a similar warning concerning the websites rrbet.com, babu88bd.com and wagerstreet.net, adding to comparable notices published in January of this year.

A total of 42 distinct URLs were added to the MGA’s list of unauthorised websites in 2025.

The most high-profile of these cases involved the multiple sites linked to God55, a Malaysian brand that entered a partnership with English football club Birmingham City in March last year.

Following an inquiry conducted by iGaming Expert, no evidence was found that God55 held a valid license from the MGA, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) or the CGA, despite making these claims on its websites at the time the partnership was announced.
